Chagossian women’s sega dancing involves two sets of steps. During the verse, the dancer shuffles her feet and waves her skirts while making rolling hip movements. During the chorus, she holds the skirts out and twirls one way and then the other. The dancer keeps her feet flat on the ground. Men dance around the female dancers, moving their hips and tipping their hats at the women.
